He Said... She Said...

There's nothing like amazing feedback we receive from a customer expressing their experience using Helen Julia Candles. These testimonials are a constant reminder why I continue to do what I do and how much I love it.

"You know what is funny about your candles? I love to light them up. But the one thing that I just adore the most is to keep them in a drawer or hidden with my clothes. There is then this fantastic smell, discreet and sensual. And since I do not love that much to put perfume on, there is this smell that just lingers on me, natural and discreet. I love it. At night, after a nice bath and a massage, I love to light one up while reading a book (even though it is a little dangerous). But your candles are some of the best on the market right now."

-Faithful Customer

"I cannot even begin to accurately describe how delighted I was upon receiving and opening these absolutely beautiful candles. The presentation is like none other I have ever seen for candles. Everything was perfect: the elegant ribbon knot, the attractive chic black box, the pink information brochure included on fine stationery, the intoxicating scent of the candles and to top it off each candle included its own black velvet like pouch...simply exquisite! I will be telling others about your candles! Truly any candle connoisseur has not experienced true candle rhapsody until they have bought and experienced a Helen Julia candle! I know why New York is the greatest city in the world! The flawless presentation of a Helen Julia candle is a fine example of luxury and quality! Thank you so much!"

Remembering Michael Jackson aka The King Of Pop

As the world continues to mourn the death of a legacy of our generation, Michael Jackson, we are all celebrating his life as Michael Jackson has touched us all in some way, shape or form. From his dance moves, one sparkling glove, cool pilot shades (before Tom Cruise in Top Gun), jheri curls (yes, I took it there), penny loafers, white socks and our pants slightly high watered to imitate the beginning of a musical phenomenon and icon!

I wasn't born yet when The Jackson 5 made their first debut. However, at the age of 4, I was quickly mesmerized by this group of young boys singing great songs that I wanted to dance to and watch on television on shows such as Soul Train, American Bandstand and The Jackson 5 cartoon! Michael Jackson immediately stood out amongst his four brothers. Your eyes were solely focused only on Michael Jackson as he performed.

I can go on and on and on with childhood memories revolving around Michael Jackson's music from dance routines, entertaining family members by imitating The Jackson 5, joining fan clubs and having my first real crush on a boy, Michael Jackson! Every young girl wanted to marry Michael Jackson even while not understanding what marriage was. We were in love (or so we thought)! That's all that mattered.

I can recall one particular day that I will remember for the rest of my life; on my 11th birthday, Motown 25 aired that night. I rushed home from grade school, finished my homework, got into my pj's, my birthday celebration was in full effect; birthday cake, gifts, love from parents and the icing on the cake was watching Michael Jackson perform Billie Jean in his sparkly blazer, sparkly glove, sparkly socks and the Moonwalk was born!

Here's to remembering Michael Jackson then, now and forever!

The Beginning Of A Legendary Superstar...
Michael would imitate James Brown's moves
The perfect Afro! Does anyone still have a fist pick!
The Crush Begins Here! What a heartthrob!
Need I say more... Wow!
The famous Thriller Jacket that had everyone doing the Thriller dance amongst the living dead! The living dead never had so much rhythm! No album has EVER sold more copies than Thriller to date! Thriller is the #1 album in history!
We will always remember Michael Jackson, The King Of Pop and that gorgeous smile of his! All of his hit songs such as; P.Y.T (Pretty Young Thang), Rock With You, Wanna Be Startin' Somethin', Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough, Off The Wall, Do You Remember The Time, and of course THRILLER and the list goes on and on with hit after hit after hit!

R.I.P. Michael Jackson! You will be missed and most importantly NEVER forgotten!

I Love It When You Call Me Big Poppa!

We have to show love to our deserving "Poppa's" this coming Father's Day, Sunday, June 21st. As you are shopping for Father's Day cards and gifts, you'll notice the aisles are not as crowded (when you are shopping for Mom) and there are PLENTY of cards to choose from (even for those last minute shoppers).

With that being said, for our deserving "Poppa's" who influence, teaches, inspire, motivate, guide, love, protect and lead us in a positive direction, Happy Father's Day! You may be an uncle, brother, neighbor, friend, teacher, mentor or someone afar, not necessarily someone we know personally. We appreciate you, sincerely!

Helen Julia would like to wish the Daddy's a Happy Father's Day (and a Happy Birthday to my Daddy)!

Voulez-Vous Coucher Avec Moi Ce Soir?

Let's keep it clean, people. It's not your Patti Labelle's "Mocca Chocolate Ya Ya" (Lady Marmalade)! I'm referring to Hollywood Glamorous Bedrooms! We can "go to bed" like our favorite stars on the silver screen!

Remember Carrie Bradshaw's remodeled apartment after her heart wrenching wedding episode! Some of us will cut our hair, lose a few pounds and get a pet to distract our heartbreak. I really like Carrie's approach; new home, new me and out with old, in with the new. Her apartment was bright, modern and whimsical to keep your spirits upbeat (at least until the newness of your new home wear off).

Then we have James Bond, the bachelor’s boudoir from 007’s Quantum Of Solace. Talk about a chick magnet! Pulling the bed off the back wall brings it to center stage. Now, if that doesn't ruffle your feathers ladies, I don't know what will. Well, I do have many other "suggestions" to get us going but I'll leave that for another blog!

(Image courtesy of Point Click Home)

One of my favorite romantic movies The Holiday, Cameron Diaz's character is a big shot movie trailer maker and her Los Angeles house shows just how successful she is. The bedroom is classically designed with a coziness that will make you want to stay cuddled up in bed for more than your 8-hours allotted sleep time.

While we're on the topic of beautiful decor living spaces that are not necessarily traditionally designed, I love dining room decor that are made to feel like upscale restaurant style seating. Take for instance, these gorgeous decorated dining room spaces, designed by a personal friend of mine, James Niebling of Esteban Interiors Design Firm.

I love the antique chairs and ottoman as the seating choice with a gorgeous modern/antique table. It is so romantic and European style!
